The family of the overseas Filipino worker who was sentenced to death in the United Arab Emirates has appealed for help.
According to a report Dalquez was meted the death penalty by Dubai's Al Ain trial court last May 20 for allegedly killing her employer in December 2014.
"The Embassy has extended all necessary assistance, including hiring a lawyer," the DFA, meanwhile, said in a text message to GMA News Online.
The DFA added that the Philippine embassy would assist Dalquez in appealing her sentence, and that the Dalquez family had been informed of the development.
Dalquez is the latest OFW to be sentenced to death. According to the DFA, there are 88 Filipinos in death row in various countries, including Mary Jane Veloso who was supposed to be executed over drug charges, but was given a temporary reprieve by the Indonesian government.
